Academics at Sandhill Child Development Center are designed to benefit children with attachment difficulties, emotional difficulties, and a variety of learning challenges. Teachers and staff use the attachment treatment model in order to help each child improve their relationships to teachers, peers, and academic work.
Children generally attend school in classrooms staffed by Sandhill Center teachers and child care workers. Sandhill's experienced teachers are able to help students with treatment goals and behavioral problems while remaining focused on educational benchmarks. Core subjects are covered through classroom work that includes group and individual assignments. Exploration of the community takes place on numerous field trips and during experiential activities.
We offer an extensive art program designed to help children develop their creativity, thinking and life skills. Our animal care program also supplements our educational program, providing many opportunities for the children to experience the satisfaction of caring for other beings. Working with animals provides the children with an opportunity to learn how their thoughts, feelings and actions affect others.
